Meet Dr. Ortega, DDS, MAGD

Dr. Ortega is a very special dentist. She decided that she wanted to become a dentist when she was only six years old. She had been helping her mother pull out her younger brother’s baby tooth and had so much fun doing so that she wanted to pull out teeth for a living. Little did she know as a child that there was much more to dentistry than extracting teeth. Thereafter, her emphasis was to excel in school so that she could fulfill her childhood dream of becoming a dentist.

Dr. Ortega participates in community activities and maintains memberships in various professional societies in order to stay abreast of the newest developments in the dental field. Specifically, she was awarded Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in  2007 and then the Master of Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) in 2017, and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. She is also a member of the Northern Virginia Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association and American Dental Association. These affiliations keep Dr. Ortega in close contact with other dental professionals and maintain her awareness of new dental technologies.

Dr. Ortega is known by many as one of the best dentists in the Fairfax. Through her extensive post-graduate studies and the use of cutting-edge technology, Dental Cosmetix has become the premier cosmetic dental facility in Fairfax, Virginia. Dr. Ortega is dedicated to creating a healthy, beautiful smile using the most current techniques, materials, and artistic skills. Dr. Ortega is one of only a few dentists in Northern Virginia who was awarded the highest distinction of Master of Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). Only 2% of dentists in the United States and Canada have been awarded this coveted distinction. In addition to being known as one of the best cosmetic dentists in Northern Virginia, Dr. Ortega also has extensive experience treating senior citizens, the elderly and geriatric patients. Many of her patients make the journey to see her from out of state as well as from overseas.

At Dental Cosmetix only one patient is seen at a time to ensure the best quality of care is given to every individual patient. This also allows for close monitoring of each patient’s teeth and early detection of any problems to help yield the best and most conservative treatment, thus avoiding the need for complex dental treatment. Due to Dr. Ortega’s extensive post graduate studies and credentials, most treatment can be done in our office without referral to other offices thus allowing us to closely monitor patient treatment outcome.

My Background

Experience:

One month after completing her residency, Dr. Ortega started working as a full-time private practice associate for a pediatric dentist in Herndon, Virginia. Dr. Ortega treated all the adult patients while the practice owner continued treating children almost exclusively. Her practice resources consisted of three operatories and one dental assistant, creating an autonomous situation for Dr. Ortega. This ideal position provided her with excellent clinical experience.
All of her patients loved her chairside manners and were very pleased with her treatment. Dr. Ortega has very gentle hands and knows how to make patients feel relaxed in the dental chair. Her dentistry was always exceptional. These factors were strong indicators that she was primed to go solo by opening her own practice.

Dr. Ortega opened her private practice in Fairfax, Virginia. Her office is in the heart of Fairfax City and is conveniently located on Main Street, near George Mason University. Since opening her practice, she has contributed her time to educating students at local Fairfax elementary schools and at the George Mason University Health & Fitness Fair.

Dr. Ortega is becoming the premiere cosmetic dentist in the area. She has performed thousands of smile makeovers and smile enhancements. These smile improvements have helped patients gain more confidence in themselves and in their smiles.

Dr. Ortega works to improve a patient’s smile whether it is with minimal bonding or a major cosmetic makeover. Her goal is to improve the patient’s smile with the most conservative treatment possible while also achieving the most ideal and natural smile possible. She has been doing cosmetic dentistry well before cosmetic dentistry became popular to the general population. With all of the experience that she has had in cosmetic dentistry, she has performed more cosmetic dentistry than most general dentists. Her desire to do cosmetic dentistry has been a large part of her passion for dentistry.

She constantly keeps up to date with all of the changes in cosmetic dentistry in order to provide the best and most state-of-the-art treatment for each and every one of her patients. She was awarded the Fellowship award from the Academy of General Dentistry in 2007 and is on her way to earning her Mastership award. She is also a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

In addition to her continuous education in cosmetic dentistry, she has also had extra training in medicine in comparison to most general dentists. She has had specialized training with cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic gum surgery, oral surgery, medically compromised patients, geriatric patients and dental traumas.

Unlike most dentists, she has always exceeded her professional education requirements. She consistently takes several times the required courses and attends dental meetings and conferences all over the country. Dr. Ortega maintains memberships in various professional societies in order to stay abreast of the newest developments in the dental field. Specifically, she is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD), trained with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS), Northern Virginia Dental Society, Virginia Dental Association and American Dental Association.
