Dr. Ortega earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with honors, Cum Laude in 1995. She went on to have further training in hospital dentistry where she was further trained in many aspects of medicine as well as surgeries, treating patients with medical comorbidities, geriatrics and those with physical challenges. After completing her residency in 1996 at the University of Maryland Hospital, she started working as a full-time private practice associate for a pediatric dentist in Herndon, Virginia. In 1997, Dr. Ortega opened her private practice in Fairfax, Virginia, in the heart of Fairfax City, conveniently located on Main Street.

One month after completing her residency, Dr. Ortega began working as a full-time private practice associate for a pediatric dentist in Herndon, Virginia. Dr. Ortega managed the adult patients while the practice owner focused almost exclusively on treating children. With three operatories and one dental assistant, Dr. Ortega had an autonomous setup, providing her with excellent clinical experience. Her patients appreciated her gentle chairside manner and exceptional treatment, which indicated her readiness to open her own practice.

Dr. Ortega subsequently established her private practice in the heart of Fairfax City, Virginia, conveniently located on Main Street near George Mason University. Since opening her practice, she has actively contributed to the community by educating students at local elementary schools and participating in the George Mason University Health & Fitness Fair.
